Craft of the Week: Monogram Keychain

Personalize your keys with this cute and fun craft. It makes a great gift for someone else or even yourself.

Crafts are a great way to exercise your artistic side but they are also very useful at bringing people together. 

Each week, we will post a simple and easy project for your enjoyment. This is a great opportunity for you to reconnect with your friends and family while enjoying a weekly craft night.

Personalization can add just the right amount of spice and charm to almost everything. The monogram keychain is a quick and simple craft that makes a great gift for friends, family, kids, adults, and even yourself.

This keychain can help your organize your keys. For example, "C" for car, "H" for house, or "W" for work. The monograms can also be used to mark who's keys are whose in a multi-key household. The possibilities are endless!

What You Need

  • Felt
  • Key Ring
  • Scissors
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Ruler
  • Crayon or Chalk

Step 1
Find a letter or shape that you would like to make into a keychain. You can draw it yourself or print it from your computer. Alternatively, you can find something fun in a magazine or book to trace or  cut out. 

Step 2
Trace the shape onto your felt using chalk or a crayon. Cut out two copies of your shape plus a strip of felt that is approximately 1 inch wide and 2 inches long. 

Step 3
Loop the felt strip loosely around a keychain. Sew the loose ends shut.  

Step 4
Sandwich the strip between your felt shapes in the  desired position. Securely sew the strip into place. 

Step 5
Sew the two felt pieces together. 

Step 6
Display your monogram with pride!
