The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped 1 cent today to settle at $4.395, falling for the second day in a row after increasing for seven consecutive days. The seven-day streak of increases ended Thursday with a drop of two- tenths of a cent. The price rose 17.9 cents during the streak, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. Despite the back-to-back decreases, today's average price is 11.9 cents more than one week ago, 16 cents higher than one month ago and 18.9 cents greater than one year ago. On Friday, May 11, Frito-Lay is partnering with Ralphs stores to promote its new products as part of ‘Free Flavor Friday’ and is giving away free chips.
On Friday, May 11, from 3 to 8 p.m., Frito-Lay is partnering with Ralphs stores across the country for Free Flavor Friday. As part of the event, Frito-Lay plans to give away more than 2 million sample bags of its new products, including Doritos Jacked tortilla chips in Enchilada Supreme and Smoky Chipotle BBQ. The stores will also be giving away samples of the newest Ruffles potato chip flavors, including BBQ Rib and Bacon and Cheddar Potato Skins flavors. The sharp increase stems from record low gasoline inventories and continued refinery issues, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. The average price is 6.2 cents more than one week ago and a half-cent higher than one year ago, but is unchanged from one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. More than 200 sponsored balls were dropped during the Cerritos Chamber's Helicopter Golf Ball Drop. But just one winning golf ball landed in the hole -- who did it belong to? Watch our video to find out!
At the end of the Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce's Fiesta on the Fairways Golf Classic at the Long Beach Recreation Park Golf Club on May 7, more than 200 sponsored golf balls were dropped from a helicopter over a hole on the course. And the sponsor of the numbered ball that landed in the hole won 50% of the proceeds - up to $1000. Patch took part in the ball drop, but who came out the big winner? Following a national dog food recall Tuesday, a California based pet food manufacturer, Solid Gold Health Products for Pets, Inc., also issued a recall for some of its products. The original recall order was issued by Diamond Pet Foods after the Centers for Disease Control reportedly linked the contamination to several brands of dog food produced at their Gaston, SC. plant. A total of 14 individuals were infected with an outbreak strain of Salmonella Infantis in nine states, according to the CDC. At least 12 brands of dry dog food are impacted and only certain batches are being recalled on a voluntary basis. Cerritos-Artesia Patch is sponsoring the 7th hole at the Long Beach Recreation Park Golf Course during the Cerritos Chamber's May 7 golf classic.
The Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Fiesta on the Fairways Golf Classic at the Long Beach Recreation Park Golf Club today, and Cerritos-Artesia Patch is sponsoring the 7th hole on the course. Patch is also taking part in the helicopter golf ball drop at 6 p.m., in which numbered golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter over a hole on the course at the end of the event. The sponsor of the numbered ball that lands in the hole (or closest to the cup if no ballgoes in), will win 50% of the proceeds - up to $1000! FunFresh Foods warns of possible contamination in its World Berries brand product.
An Orange County-based company is recalling packages of organic cacao nib snack food because of possible bacterial contamination, the firm announced Sunday. The World Berries brand snack food may be contaminated with a virulent form of e. coli bacteria called O157:H7, which has been known to cause hemolytic uremic syndrome in a small percentage of people. For the vast majority, the bacteria causes a virulent form of diarrhea. The cacao nibs were sold in 6-ounce packages. About 500 packages were distributed, and 263 of those have already been pulled from shelves for destruction.
