Alondra Boulevard Intersection to Close Beginning Friday

The Alondra Boulevard/ Freeway Drive Intersection will close from Aug. 2 through Feb. 14, 2014 as part of a $110 million improvement project.

Effective at 8 a.m. Friday through Feb. 14, Caltrans will fully close the Alondra Boulevard/Freeway Drive intersection. The intersection closure will minimize the impacts of construction and increase motorists, pedestrians and work crew safety, according to a press release.

Commuters are encouraged to use marked detours on Valley View Avenue, Artesia Boulevard and Carmenita Road and to allow extra time for travel. The work zone’s seven day work schedule will operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Among the project’s activities is the construction of a temporary I-5 northbound ramp at Freeway Drive slated to open mid-October. It will replace the permanently closed entrance at Alondra Boulevard until the new ramp is complete.
