Cities of Cerritos, Artesia Plan 9/11 Remembrance Events

Both cities are holding Patriot Day ceremonies on Wednesday, and the community is invited to attend.

As America mourns the loss of nearly 3,000 lives that were tragically taken on Sept. 11 twelve years ago, locals are encouraged to gather Wednesday to pay tribute.

The cities of Cerritos and Artesia are each hosting 9/11 events.

Artesia's event will happen first, at noon in front of the Artesia Veterans Memorial.

"The Patriot Day Ceremony is an opportunity for the community to join together to display its unity and patriotism for the great United States of America, and to remember the victims of 9/11," a city event announcement states.

Dubbed the "Patriot Day Concert," the Cerritos event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Heritage Park.

"The event will be held in honor of the victims and heroes affected by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001," a press release from the city states.  "The evening will include a brief ceremony with the Cerritos City Council, a moment of silence and a concert featuring patriotic music."

Other features of the event will include a "patriotic craft" for children ages 6 to 11 and snacks (for a nominal fee).

No pets will be allowed into the park during the event.
