Dance Lives at Cerritos High

Members of the Cerritos High Dance Drill Team wowed the crowd during their end-of-year year show "Spectacular."

They smiled, they moved, and they dazzled ... all for the love of dance.

Last month, a talented group of students from the 2010-2011 Dance Drill Team performed before a packed crowd inside the school's gymnasium.

The co-ed dance group is comprised of 33 girls and 22 boys, who proudly share a love for their craft.

“We all love to dance and that’s the one thing that we all have in common,” said Susie Le, who on the same night was named as one of the team's lieutenants for next year's squad.

The end-of-the-year showcase "Spectacular" featured a collection of routines the group performed throughout the year at school events and competitions, drawing huge applause and cheers from crowds of parents, students, faculty members, and city officials, including Cerritos Mayor Carol Chen.

But perhaps the rowdiest cheers came when a group of dance drill team parents rocked out their own dance routine, proving that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

"It was just awesome to show off to our kids that the parents could do the same thing,” said Mayor Chen as she fondly recalled having to perform a similar parent dance routine when her daughter was a member of the CHS Dance Drill Team.

A group of children from the San Diego based dance group "Culture Shock" also performed during the May 28 event.
