A faulty underground transformer near Bloomfield Avenue and 195th Street left roughly 2,000 Southern California Edison customers in Cerritos without power Friday night, authorities said.
The outage was reported about 6:40 p.m, according to the utility company. Cerritos sheriff's deputies immediately responded to the affected intersection to provide traffic control while several streets near the area were left in complete darkness.
SCE crews were sent to the location to fix the damaged transformer and service was restored to most of the area as of about 10:30 p.m., according to a sergeant with the Cerritos Sheriff's Station.
There were still more than 50 customers without power as of about 11 p.m., SCE reported.
There were no incidents or accidents reported as a result of the outage, the sheriff's sergeant added.
