Five Things You Need to Know About Today: Feb. 25

A Public Safety Expo for the family at Artesia Park, a benefit to help raise funds for Philippine Typhoon victims, and a night to roll the dice for a good cause. Here's a list of things happening in the neighborhood on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Here's a list of what's going on in Cerritos and Artesia on Saturday, Feb. 25:

  1. Bring your unused computers, monitors, televisions or other electronics that you need to dispose to E-Waste Collection fundraiser at Mary Bragg Elementary School starting at 8amThis event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the school. In partnership with , this fundraiser will not only help the environment, all monies raised will also benefit the school's technology fund to help provide new computers for Bragg's labs. 
  2. Bring the family to and enjoy the  This annual event teaches youth about bicycle safety and the importance of safety gear. Meet members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, L.A. County Fire Department and CARE Ambulance. There will also be a BMX stunt show, as well as an animal adoption program. Kids can also win bicycles, bicycle helmets, car seats, safety gear, and much more. 
  3. Help the people in the Philippines who were affected by the devastating typhoon Sendong in December 2011 by attending the : The city of Cerritos is co-sponsoring this concert at to raise funds for the victims. The concert will feature members of the Colburn Chamber Orchestra of The Colburn School, and it will be conducted by Maxim Eshkenazy, Assistant Conductor, Colburn Orchestra. Tickets cost $20 each and can be reserved by calling the City’s Recreation Services Division at (562) 916-1254.
  4. Take part in : The local Soroptimist are hosting their 20th Annual Monte Carlo night -- "The Magic of Giving -- at from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a buffet dinner catered by Turnip Rose, and enjoy casino tables, and great raffle prizes including a 2-night stay in Paris, a gift card tree worth over $500 in gift cards and so much more.  Proceeds will benefit local charities that seek to improve the lives of women and girls.
