Freeway Closures Planned This Week Near Cerritos, Artesia

In Norwalk, the southbound 5 Freeway will be closed starting at midnight Monday and Tuesday night.

Overnight freeway closures were scheduled for this week on a pair of Los Angeles County freeways.

Scheduled for overnight closures were the San Bernardino (10) and San Gabriel (605) freeways in the West Covina area, and the Santa Ana (5) Freeway near La Mirada.

In Norwalk, the southbound 5 Freeway will be closed starting at midnight Monday and Tuesday night. The closures will be between Rosecrans Avenue and Carmenita Road, and will last until 5 a.m. the next day. Only one northbound lane will be open during that period, and access ramps in the area will also be closed.

All lanes of the northbound 5 will be closed at Carmenita Road at midnight Wednesday and Thursday nights, with one southbound left open. Those closures will also end at 5 a.m. the next day.

Drivers were advised to skirt the closures by using the 605 and 91 freeways between Los Angeles and Santa Ana. Construction continues to extend the 5's carpool and general purpose lanes from Orange County up to the 605 interchange.

In the San Gabriel Valley, numerous overnight closures were planned for both the 10 and 605 freeways this week, starting with the shutdown of many of the freeway connectors at the 10/605 interchange late tonight.

All lanes of the northbound 605 will be closed at Valley Boulevard starting at 11 p.m. tonight, and lasting until 5 a.m. the next day. Similar closures will occur every night through Friday night and Saturday morning,

Further east, all lanes on the 10 Freeway will be closed east of the 605, as far east as Puente Avenue, for varying hours during the night.

The 10 Freeway is being widened east of the 605, and a new flyover ramp is being built to eliminate weaving maneuvers at the short merging areas at the 10/605 interchange.

No temporary closures were posted for the Sepulveda Pass or Seal Beach widening projects on the San Diego (405) Freeway for this week.
