Get Out: Five Ideas for Your Weekend of Aug. 5-7
It's reigning cats and dogs this weekend in the Cerritos-Artesia area. Are you ready for the fun?
This weekend is a mixture of good deeds and indulgence. You can help out the Cerritos College Football Team by coming to a neat car show and brave a walk with your Great Dane while raising funds to fight cancer. Then, you can reward yourself with a great concert, a little after hours shopping at the store with the little, pink bags; and some cool, mango frozen yogurt.
Our goal is to make the Get Out planner as reliable as possible, but keep in mind, some events change at the last minute. We advise calling ahead just in case.

Why Go: Enjoy the smooth sounds and acoustic harmonies of Rosewood at this free Friday Concert in the Park. Bring a picnic blanket or some low-back chairs, your best friends, and a jacket for when it cools off.

Why Go: The Bark For Life is a way to help raise awareness and funds to fight cancer. Even our four-legged friends get cancer. All are invited to come out, bring your leashed dog(s) and walk. Free PETCO doggie goodie bags while supplies last.
Pricing: $10 for first dog, $5 for each additional
When/Where: Roll-out 6 a.m.-10 a.m., show starts at 9 a.m. this Sunday at Cerritos College, 11110 Alondra Blvd., Norwalk
Why Go: This Pharaohs South Bay Car Club car show will also serve as a benefit for the Cerritos College Football Team. Come check out the dazzling cars, tricked-out trucks and lowrider bikes. There will also be tons of live music, great food, fun activities for the kids, prizes, a 50/50 raffle and more.
Pricing: $10 general admission; free for those 10 and younger with an adult; for car, bike and truck registration fee details
When/Where: 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. this Sunday at
Why Go: Come to Victoria's Secret after the mall closes for a special after-hours sneak peak at what's new for fall. There will be giveaways, one-night-only deals and even a DJ. The website mentions it being a "Pink Nation Members Only" event, but a phone call confirmed this event is in fact open to all shoppers.

Why Go: Sweet treat purveyor Yogurtland has partnered with sweet character purveyor Sanrio and is giving away cute free spoons. For now, the spoons sport the faces of Hello Kitty and Chococat, but after August 11, My Melody and Keroppi spoons will also be available. Yogurtland is also selling various Sanrio products and the is providing a "photo op" zone too.
