Enjoy Juicy Satsumas at the Cerritos Farmers Market

Try this citrus fruit as a healthy snack, a dessert or garnish for a tasty salad.

It’s two weeks into the new year, and I’m sure everyone can already use a little energy boost! The high of the holidays are over, the New Year's resolutions may be starting to looking impossible and the routines of school or work may be making you feel a little "blah."  Stay encouraged by stopping by the today to breathe some fresh air and try a few sweet satsumas to give you that "pick-me-up" you're looking for.

In the summer, I featured juicy and delicious  from the Fruit Fairies stand. Now they've made room for satsumas, which are part of the citrus family and resemble the mandarin orange (its name is derived from the Satsuma province of Japan). One thing to love about satsumas is that they are very easy to carry with you anywhere. The fruit is sweet, seedless and has a thin leathery skin that is very easy to peel. They make convenient snacks and can be tossed in salads to add a good dose of Vitamin C.

The great thing about stopping by the Fruit Fairies stand for their satsumas is also knowing that you're getting fresh, organic ones grown fruit from the family farm in Dinuba. You’re not only supporting local farmers, but also getting fruit that hasn’t been grown with synthetic fertilizers and chemicals and haven't traveled for many miles before you enjoy it!
