Local Organizations and Businesses Support Soroptimists’ Annual Monte Carlo Night

Longtime local sponsors continue to support the charitable efforts of the Artesia-Cerritos Chapter of Soroptimist International despite tough economic times.

The Artesia-Cerritos Chapter of Soroptimist International will hold their on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 7-11 p.m. at the . This year’s theme is “An Evening in Casablanca: Play It Again, Sam!”

As the date quickly approaches, members are excited to provide an evening filled with delicious foods catered by Turnip Rose, casino-style gaming, and excellent door and raffle prizes.

“This year, expect to go back to the 1940’s,” said Monte Carlo Chair Christina Alosi. "You’ll really feel like you are transported back to Casablanca with men in white coats and Rick’s bar. It will be a very memorable night indeed!”

All money raised at the event goes to support local charities, including Su Casa (a home for battered women and children) and Community Family Guidance Center (an agency that provides mental health services to children and families).

Sponsor Chair for Monte Carlo, Sandy Fikse, said, “Our Monte Carlo Night success is largely dependent on the generous donations of our sponsors. In these tough economic times, Soroptimist members have had to work harder to continue our support of our charities.”

Soroptimists have been delighted to discover that longtime event sponsors are continuing their support despite these economic times. Sponsors pay a premium price for their tickets and enjoy additional benefits such as signage during the evening that shows attendees which businesses are involves and invested in their local community.

“If it were not for our sponsors and their generous support of Monte Carlo Night, the Artesia-Cerritos Soroptimists would not be able to fulfill ourprimary mission,” said Sponsor Chair Sandy Fikse.

“That mission is to support ourlocal families in crisis in our immediate communities and on the global level. These folks really need our help and it is in our power to do just that,” she added.

Sponsors of five years include LA County Supervisor Don Knabe, of Cerritos, La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, City of Cerritos, the City of Artesia, Cerritos Optimist Club, Dr. Tae S. Kim, Dr. Terrisa Ha, Bob and Mary Buell of B & B Stables, Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud and Romo and Fidelity Hearing Center. Many other sponsors are equally dedicated though involved for a shorter period of time.
