Nutrient-Packed Kale at the Cerritos Farmers Market

Get all the health benefits of kale by picking some up at the Cerritos Farmers Market this Saturday.

To easily get a healthy dose of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber, try adding kale to your diet.  Not only is it great for your health--it's also easy on the wallet. You can always get a great deal at Tamai Farms at the (they sell a bunch for $2 or 3 for $5), and the kale there is very green and fresh. 

Here’s a few reasons that make kale a nutritional powerhouse:

  • One cup contains an excellent source of dietary fiber, which aids digestion.
  • It is a good source of the minerals copper, potassium, iron, manganese and phosphorous. 
  • Provides a high dose of antioxidant vitamins A, C, K
  • Contains omega-3 fatty acids, which provides anti-inflammatory health benefits

Best ways to select and store:

  • Choose kale that has deep colored leaves and moist, firm stems. 
  • Make sure leaves are not wilted and have no holes, browning or yellowing.
  • Store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to five days.
  • Wash only before use.
