We review the Top 10 stories that caught our readers' eyes in 2011 -- here are stories 5-7.

As we proudly complete our first full year of local news coverage in the Cerritos and Artesia community, we take a look back at the year that was 2011. From Wednesday through Saturday, we'll count down the Top 10 Stories read on Cerritos-Artesia Patch this year.

For many area residents, it is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since the Aug. 31, 1986 mid-air collision that claimed the lives of 82 people -- a tragedy that till this day is considered the darkest day in Cerritos' history. As part of the 25th anniversary of this tragic accident, Cerritos-Artesia Patch launched a special series looking back at that fateful day, recollections from those who responded to the site of the catastrophe within moments of the accident, as well as reflections from those who helped bring the community back on its feet in the days, months and years that followed.

A special appearance by reality show sisters Khloe, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian sends thousands of fans into a tizzy at the department store in on Sept. 18. The trio made a special appearance on behalf of their clothing line, the Kardashian Kollection. Although just the first 200 fans were allowed to enter the store and meet the Kardashians, thousands lined up outside the department store in hopes of meeting the trio.

 and council incumbents Bruce Barrows and  earned the voters' support in the March 8 Cerritos City Council election. Pulido, who at the time was an ABC School Board member, led the pack with a record-setting 5,198 votes. A few days later, in a show of gratitude, Pulido and his family stood on the corner of a busy intersection simply to say 'thank you' to the community.
