Police: Two Injured in Cerritos Morning Wreck, One Hospitalized

A Cerritos Library worker was hospitalized Thursday after he was broadsided while exiting the 91 freeway, authorities said.

Initially believed to have been a hit-and-run, Cerritos Sheriff's officials tell Patch they have been in contact with the drivers of both vehicles involved in the wreck near Bloomfield and Artesia.

According to sheriff's Lt. Arnaldo, the crash happened when the man was struck by a vehicle headed eastbound on Artesia at 8:18 a.m.  The library worker -- who briefly lost consciousness, continued on to work.

Once at the library, the man contacted the Cerritos Sheriff's Station and reported the incident and his injuries, not realizing the other vehicle that hit him had stopped, Arnaldo said.

“He didn't know what had happened… he was out of it," the lieutenant told Patch.

Meanwhile, Arnaldo says the other driver stopped at the scene, and was treated for minor injuries from the airbag's deployment.
