Searching for the Next Miss Cerritos

Outgoing, articulate, and responsible.

These are some of the qualities that the Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce hopes to find in its participants for the 2011 Miss Cerritos Contest.

The Chamber stresses that the annual competition is not a pageant, but rather a professional development opportunity for young women.

"We are looking for professional, outgoing, responsible, articulate young women to represent the Chamber as an Ambassador throughout the year," according to the Chamber.

Contestants are judged on their poise, attitude, social skills, and professionalism.

According to event organizers, the goal of Miss Cerritos is to give young women the opportunity to gain professional networking skills, public speaking and interview skills, and to make contacts within the Cerritos business community to help further their professional careers.

The title-holder will also have the chance to earn educational scholarships and prizes and also be involved in local community events.

To qualify for the competition, participants must be a high school graduate or equivalent, no older than 27 years old, and unmarried. Individuals must also live, work, or go to school in Cerritos, or work for a business that is a member of the Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Those interested in participating in the Miss Cerritos Contest must attend either the 11 a.m. or 6 p.m. Contestant Orientation meeting on Tuesday, March 1 at the Cerritos Chamber office located at 13259 East South St. in Cerritos.
