Sweet Relief! Cerritos Cupcake Camp Returns on Nov. 4

Do you love baking cupcakes? If so, the Soroptimist International of Artesia-Cerritos would love to have you join their 2nd Annual Cerritos Cupcake Camp on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Cerritos High School.

Professionals, amateurs and first-time bakers are welcomed to participate in the charity event. So put on your apron, grab your favorite recipes and get to baking!

What You Need to Know

• Deadline to submit registration form: Oct. 12, 2012 (Registration information can be emailed to cerritoscupcakecamp@gmail.com -- all registration forms can be downloaded from the Patch image carousel).
• Minimum Full Size Cupcake Donations: 
  • For PROS: 150 for shared baker table or 300 for own table.
  • For AMATEURS: 4 to 6 dozen.
• Arrival Time: Both amateur and professional bakers should arrive by 11:00 a.m. 
• Cupcake Contest: All professional and amateur bakers have the opportunity to show off their amazing cupcakes by entering the cupcake contest. We will have separate contests for professionals and amateurs. (Note: In order to be eligible for cupcake judging, all cupcakes must be turned in by 11:30 a.m.)
  • There are three contest categories that you can enter:
    • Best of Show: based on overall best flavor, texture, and design
    • Most Unique Ingredient: based on creativity, taste, and texture
    • Best Decorated: based on creativity and design
  • Cupcake Contest Rules:
    • Cupcake flavor entered for contest does not need to be the same as the cupcakes for donation. 
    • Only one entry is allowed per baker per category. 
    • If entering the cupcake contest, baker must submit three cupcakes of each type for judging. 
• Other Important Information for Bakers:
  • There will be room to store cupcakes under tables. 
  • All cupcakes must be completely decorated upon arrival. 
  • Each professional baker may bring assistants to help. 
  • All bakers must wear plastic gloves when handling cupcakes.
  • Amateur cupcakes will be placed on a community amateur baker table. Amateurs need to bring their cupcakes in disposable containers as we cannot promise to return containers

Community Invited to Attend the Event - $10 Donation for Six Cupcakes

The Cupcake Camp is FREE to attend, but event organizers are asking for a $10 donation, which will allow attendees to try six different delicious cupcakes.

There will also be a "Kiddy Corner," which will include face-painting by local artist Ace of Faces.
