has released its 2011-2012 schedule and it promises to bring a diverse array of world-class entertainers to the city.

Some of the notable performers set to hit the CCPA stage include, 10-time platinum selling country singer Clint Black, Grammy-nominated sister trio Wilson Phillips, Singer/Songwriter and Producer Peter Cetera, and Disney's smash hit broadway musical "Beauty and the Beast."

"Overall, I don't believe that our programming mix has changed drastically," Cheney said. "We are presenting fewer Operas this season than we have in the past and have increased programming for younger audiences. For the first time, we are presenting something for the Tween market with the JDrew and Young Jinsu Opening for Burnham and Jasmine V performance on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 7 p.m."

Cheney says that next season's Recital Series also features some unique shows, including Christopher O'Riley and Matt Haimovitz in "Shuffle.Play.Listen."

"We also have some extraordinary Special Attractions performers such as ETHEL 'Music of the Sun' with guest Robert Mirabal," she added.

But Cheney, who has been on the CCPA staff since 2003, also points out that the schedule does not have one genre of entertainment that is more prevalent than any other.

"It is our hope that patrons will find at least one or two shows in our diverse programming mix that they would like to attend, and hopefully take a chance on attending something in a genre that they haven't been to before," she said.

The new season begins on Saturday, July 16 at 8 p.m. with Dick Fox’s Golden Boys featuring Frankie Avalon, Fabian, and Bobby Rydell. The teen idols of the late ’50s and early ’60s will be performing their greatest hits, including Avalon’s Venus, De De Dinah, and Bobby Sox to Stockings; Fabian’s Turn Me Loose, Tiger, and I’m a Man; and Rydell’s Volare, Wild One, and Kissin’ Time.

Patrons are also invited to join a pre-show cocktail reception to celebrate the season opening. The reception offers a light fare of hors d’oeuvres featuring savory items and sweets; complimentary wines, sodas, water, coffee, and tea; and a no-host bar. The reception tickets are $125; $100 of the reception ticket benefits the CCPA Endowment Fund and is tax-deductible.
