Coachella 2013 Dates, Ticket Sales Announced

The Valley's major music festival will again be held over two weekends in mid-April, while advance tickets go on sale later this week.

Coachella will remain a two-weekend event in 2013, with advance tickets on sale this Thursday—one year ahead of the popular festival.

Goldenvoice announced Monday morning, just a month after this year's concert concluded, that the 2013 event will be held April 12 to 14, and again April 19 to 21.

Advance tickets for both weekends will go on sale on the concert website. According to the site, this window for advance sales will only be open through Thursday, May 24, at 10 a.m.

The sale will be the only time the new Coachella Purchase Plan will be
offered, organizers said.

"The price you see is what you pay—prices reflect all fees included," according to a statement on Coachella's Facebook page.

The rest of the passes will go on sale early next year, organizers said.

Coachella fans were last Friday, many divided about whether it's too soon for tickets to be going on sale. The 2012 festival was sold out both weekends.

The LA Weekly explains the reason behind the early ticket sales:

Tickets went on sale later for the 2012 edition -- in June 2011 -- with another batch released in January this year, after the lineup was announced. (They sold out immediately.)

Due to concerns from neighbors surrounding Indio, where the festival is located, the fate of the 2012 event was shrouded in uncertainty, and the city of Indio delayed signing a contract with promoter Goldenvoice. This was due to concerns from the neighboring town of La Quinta about the event's environmental impact.

But such hurdles have been largely cleared this year by Goldenvoice's purchase of some 280 acres surrounding the festival grounds in March, paving the way for today's announcement.

The 2013 lineup has not been announced.
