Best Buy Cerritos Not Included on 2012 Closure List

Seven of 42 stores slated for closure this year are located in California.

Best Buy today released a list of 42 U.S. stores that will be closing in 2012, and the was not mentioned.

On March 29 the electronics retailer announced plans to close 50 U.S. stores as part of a number of key initiatives for this year. To date, one in Kansas City and another in Scottsdale, Ariz. have shut down, while five Twin Cities stores and one San Antonio store were given notice that they will close later this year.

Earlier today a list of the remaining 42 store locations was released and seven locations in California were mentioned, including:

According to a statement from the company, the stores were carefully chosen and assistance in finding other positions inside Best Buy will be given to the employees losing their jobs. 

"If they don’t find new positions, or if they choose not to work at a different location, a transition including severance packages will be available," a statement from Best Buy read.

Best Buy expects most of these stores to permanently close by May 12.
