Former Cerritos Based Paper-Party Supply Store to Celebrate 40th Anniversary in Lakewood Today

Put your birthday hats on and toss up the streamers, there's a milestone celebration going on at a business nearby. Oh and and don't worry about the sales tax, because it's on the house all day long.

Born a paper supply company in Cerritos 40 years ago, Alin Party Supply Store in Lakewood has evolved into a neighborhood business known today for its wide variety of party goods, crafts, gifts supply, and party rentals.

"Over time it turned to party supplies and less and less (to) paper and office supplies," Andy Richman, president of Alin, told the Long Beach Press Telegram. 

The company was launched in Cerritos in 1971 by Nila Saylor as Alin Paper Co., selling stationary and office supplies. The store's name, "Alin", came from the name Nila spelled backward. In 1977, a second location was opened in Riverside and in 1985 the Cerritos store moved to Downey, the newspaper reported.

Today, the closest shop to the Cerritos-Artesia area is located at 4139 Woodruff Ave. in Lakewood -- the location where local shoppers can help celebrate the business' 40th anniversary from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, with live decorating demonstrations, prize drawings, face painting, a kids crafts corner, and special sales and deals. And for those looking to bulk up on their party and craft supplies, all purchases made today are completely tax free.

Fans of Alin in the Inland Empire can also join in on today's fun at the business' other location at 6493 Magnolia Ave. in Riverside.
