"Gangsters" to Shut Down Streets in Nearby Bellflower Thursday

The filming of "The Gangster Squad" in nearby Bellflower will shut down a portion Bellflower Boulevard near Artesia Boulevard on Thursday, Oct. 20.

If you're traveling along Artesia Boulevard just past the Cerritos border into Bellflower this Thursday, you may experience some traffic as the filming of "The Gangster Squad," will keep a portion of Bellflower Boulevard shut down from Thursday evening to Friday morning.

According to Bellflower city officials, part of Bellflower Boulevard between Artesia Boulevard and Ramona Street will be closed off from 7 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday to accomodate the shoot.

"The Gangster Squad" — a film expected to be released in October 2012 -- stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Josh Brolin. The filming will take place at the old J.C Penney building at the corner of Bellflower and Artesia boulevards, city officials told the Long Beach Press Telegram.

There will also be additional lane closures throughout the city of Bellflower at the following times:

  • October 20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Bellflower Boulevard eastside curb lane and adjacent traffic lane, beginning at 17420 Bellflower Boulevard and extending 150 feet south.
  • October 24, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.Bellflower Boulevard westside curb lane and adjacent traffic lane, beginning at Flower Street and extending 150 feet north.
