Some So Cal Starbucks to Begin Offering Wine and Beer by End of 2012
Could one of the Cerritos-Artesia locations be chosen for the enhanced menu offerings, which include wine, beer and premium food options?
It may not just be coffee lovers flocking to the neighborhood Starbucks anymore because the coffeehouse giant has just announced plans to begin offering wine, beer and premium food offerings to a handful of Southern California stores by the end of this year.
These Southland shops, along with others recently announced in Atlanta and the Chicago area, will be the first extensions of the evening day-part concept outside of the Pacific Northwest -- there are currently five stores in Seattle and one in Portland that have the enhanced menu.
“Building an evening day-part is a natural progression for us as we are always looking for ways to evolve and enhance the Starbucks Experience based on what our customers are telling us,” said Clarice Turner, senior vice president, U.S. Operations. “We’re pleased with the response of our customers to the introduction of wine, beer and premium food at several of our stores in the Pacific Northwest, and we’re excited to see how the idea translates to other markets.”

As part of the expanded menu, these stores will serve new premium food (including savory snacks, small plates, and hot flatbreads) as well as wine and beer, according to Starbucks.
Southern California is slated to have four to six stores undergo the new changes by the end of 2012. The company has not announced which stores will be offering the new items.
