State of the Chamber Allows Local Businesses To Connect

Chamber President Dr. Mary Sieu says Cerritos has a 'healthy community.'

The Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce held its Chamber Bingo and State of the Chamber luncheon on Jan. 20 at the .

Serving as a business networking opportunity, the event was also a way for Chamber members to get to know each other as well as a chance to update local businesses with Chamber happenings.

“The State of the Chamber is just letting people know we are a healthy chamber of commerce,” said Dr. Mary Sieu, the Chamber's President. “We have a healthy community.”

Sieu said the Chamber has continued to have a balanced budget every year as well as a net surplus.

In addition to budgetary updates, Sieu went over some of the new features of the Chamber's website. This includes being able to translate, via Google, the website into different languages; website advertising opportunities and a “Member-to-Member Discount Program (M2M)” which allows offers incentives and discounts from Chamber businesses to other Chamber businesses. In the future, Sieu hopes to connect the Chamber with social networking outlets like Facebook and Twitter.

Before the event wrapped up, the association offered guests a game of Chamber Bingo – instead of regular Bingo cards, the squares on a Chamber Bingo card were printed with the names of Chamber businesses. One of the prizes of, a $25 Elephant Bar certificate, went to Steve Vicencia, the former president of CRCC.

According to Sieu, this event was meant for members to have fun and connect with other members as well.

“We have 450 members," she said. "Sometimes people don’t know who they are."
