Walmart to Begin Hiring 60+ Associates for New Hawaiian Gardens Market

Walmart will begin accepting applications today in anticipation of its plans to hire about 65 associates to work at the new Walmart Neighborhood Market slated to open this summer in nearby Hawaiian Gardens.

Interested applicants can apply online now at http://careers.walmart.com, or visit the hiring center located at 12100 Carson St., Ste. D starting today – Monday, June 3.

“This new Walmart Neighborhood Market in Hawaiian Gardens is a win-win, and we are excited to welcome them to our community,” said Hawaiian Gardens Mayor Victor Farfan. “Our community will benefit by having local access to lower prices, quality merchandise, and a full fare of healthy foods.  We look forward to seeing them succeed and be a partner here in Hawaiian Gardens for years to come.”

Walmart provides a benefits program to eligible full- and part-time associates. The company also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.

Through Walmart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, beginning Memorial Day, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months. Interested veterans may find out more at http://walmartcareerswithamission.com/.

“We are always happy when new jobs come into the region,” said Scott Smith, Executive Director of the Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce, which represents the business community of Hawaiian Gardens. “This new Walmart Neighborhood Market gives the local economy a boost and adds a great corporate citizen to this community.”

A majority of new associates will begin work in July to help prepare the store for its grand opening.

The new 43,000 square foot store will be located at 12120 Carson Street in Hawaiian Gardens -- at the vacant space in the shopping center at Carson Street and Norwalk Boulevard. The store will provide a new option for fresh and affordable groceries, as well as an assortment of everyday goods.
