Coroner Confirms: Husges' Death Was a Suicide

Coroner's officials say the 23-year-old from Artesia committed suicide when he jumped from the fifth story of a parking structure at the Cerritos Towne Center on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

An autopsy performed on the body of Franz Harris Husges, a 23-year-old Artesia man who fell to his death from a parking structure in the Cerritos Towne Center, confirmed that the young man committed suicide.  

A report from the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner ruled Husges' death a suicide, stating that he died from "multiple blunt force injuries." 

His body was found laying across the sidewalk between the five-story parking structure and an office building at 17777 Center Court Dr. about 8:40 a.m. on Aug. 3, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Witnesses told detectives they saw the victim jump from atop the structure.

Husges was a longtime area native who was raised in the having attended , , , and most recently Cerritos College

News of his death triggered an outpouring of sadness throughout the community via comments on social media sites and on Patch, including reaction from his peers, family and friends.

A man who identified himself as Husges brother, Henry Joseph, commented on Patch:

"i've known franz for 23 years, i miss him so much. i wish that i could take his place and let him live on, he was too young to understand what he was doing. he had alot of sadness in his heart, our family took care of franz always, and he always knew we loved him dearly. i know from this day forward if i am able to smile, it will never be the same. franz we will never forget you, we forgive you and you will always be in our memories. love your brother -Henry"
