Get Out: Five Ideas for Your Weekend

This weekend features yummy sushi, groovy tunes and concerts for a great cause.

Friday is upon us and it’s time to make plans for those precious weekend hours. The good news is, there is plenty to do. Check out our picks for this weekend’s fun activities to hit and places to explore.

Our goal is to make the Get Out planner as reliable as possible, but keep in mind, some events change at the last minute. We advise calling ahead just in case.

This weekend you can visit the groovy ’60, fly a kite up to the highest height, and catch some fantastic concerts for an even more fantastic cause; and that’s just the beginning.

Why Go: You will love the familiar ‘60s music featured in this groovy musical. Join runaway bride Holly as she learns valuable lessons from the hippies in Haight-Ashbury.

Why Go: This could be the event to attend this weekend. Frankie Alvaro hosts this benefit featuring an insane amount of great bands and DJs, a raffle with donated 4th St prizes, a vintage vehicle show and best of all, 100% of the proceeds goes to help those suffering in Japan

When/Where: 5:30 p.m. this Sunday at Los Altos United Methodist Church, 5950 E Willow St, Long Beach

Why Go: The Long Beach Camerata Singers along with local blues band Dirty Sugar and lead singer Denean Dyson perform classics from Bach to Billie Holiday.

Pricing: $20 in advance, $25 at the door
