No-Cost Exercise Program Helps Keep Seniors Moving

In an effort to cultivate the health benefits associated with exercise for seniors, Citizens Choice Healthplan of Cerritos has partnered with Silver&Fit to offer an exercise and senior aging program for all of its 13,000 members throughout southern California.

"We truly believe that exercise for seniors is just what the doctor ordered," said Paul Kahen, CEO of Citizens Choice. "So it was a natural to partner with the leader in senior exercise and wellness aging programs as a free benefit for our members."

Silver&Fit offers memberships at one of more than 11,000 participating fitness clubs and exercise facilities nationwide. This membership includes all of the amenities offered by that club's standard membership, including access to weight equipment, cardiovascular equipment, and where available, pools, saunas, and whirlpool facilities.

All Citizens Choice Silver&Fit members will also receive The Silver Slate quarterly newsletter, access to the SilverandFit.com website, and a toll-free hotline to provide information and answer questions about the program.

Silver&Fit encourages seniors to begin or continue a regular exercise program. Regular exercise has shown to be an important element in preventing some medical conditions, such as high blood pressure and heart and lung disease. Cardiovascular and strength training can also help seniors improve their balance and become more flexible, preventing common slips and falls and speeding up the recovery period from such injuries.
