Hundreds of DUI Arrests Made this Fourth of July Holiday Weekend

Nearly 700 people were arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs Thursday through Saturday in Los Angeles County.

Officials from the Avoid the 100 Los Angeles County DUI Campaign reported that between 12:01 a.m. Thursday and midnight Sunday, 685 people were
arrested on suspicion of DUI offenses. The figures are provisional, and could
change.

Avoid programs are named for the numbers of law enforcement agencies in each county. Law enforcement officers will conduct other Avoid campaigns this
summer, ending with the Labor Day weekend.

Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
