A Few Ideas for Celebrating Father's Day in So Cal

The best present you can get dad might just be spending some time together.

This Sunday is Father's day, a day to give thanks to our dads for everything they do for us. So instead of buying him another tie or coffee mug, why not spend the day doing something together?

Here are some tips and events happening this weekend that will help make this a Father's Day to remember for dear ol' Dad:

  • The Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Houston Astros baseball game. The game starts at 1 p.m on Sunday, but before the game there will be live music in the parking lot and a meet and greet with players and cheerleaders of the Chivas USA soccer team. Upon entering the stadium, dads will be given a blue Dodgers barbeque apron. After the game ends fans are welcome to go out onto the field where they will be given foam balls to play catch with their families. • How about a round of golf with your dad?  is a local nine-hole course right here in Cerritos that is not too difficult for new players but is still challenging enough for experienced golfers to keep it interesting.

  • For the fisherman dads, there are loads of great places to catch some dinner in Southern California, including stocked private lakes, state parks, and ocean fishing from piers or charter boats. For a list of places to go fishing check out http://www.fishingnetwork.net/ and for more info on licenses and regulations visit http://www.dfg.ca.gov/. And before you hit the shore, don't forget to check this week's .

  • For car enthusiasts, the Rodeo Drive Concours d'Elegance will be celebrating “The Art of Italian Motoring” on Sunday. The annual free event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature more than 125 vintage Italian cars.

  • For film buffs, the Cinefamily will be having a  special Father's Day matinee presentation of Charlie Chaplin's directorial debut “The Kid” at silent movie theater in Los Angeles on Sunday. The film features Chaplin's classic Tramp character who finds an orphan on the street whome he raises to be his sidekick.

  • For the foodies, Huntington Beach is having a chili cook-off at the beach on Saturday benefiting the Children's Hospital of Orange County. The free event will include live music, plenty of activities for the kids, and a chance to try the local restaurants' fare.

  • For those families that would rather stay home and grill up some grub on the barbeque, check out www.grilling.com for a list of some awesome barbeque recipes to cook up for dad, or for dad to show off his master grilling skills.

I've noticed that a lot of people take jobs in food service while they pursue long-term jobs thatRead More match their field of study. If they do, they need to be certified in food safety. They can learn about this at http://www.SafeFoodAcademy.com.

To call this "rag" a newspaper is a joke. They only put partial truths, always sided to aRead More covert friend of the writer and never have done the background investigation to be able to establish validity!
