$10,000 Reward Offered for 2008 Shooting Death in Lakewood

County officials hope the reward will help solve the death of Mark Mejia, 19, who was shot in front of a residence on Dashwood Street on July 19, 2008.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a $10,000 reward for information leading to whoever fatally shot a teen in Lakewood more than three years ago.

Mark Mejia, 19, was sitting inside his vehicle in front of a residence in the 2900 block of Dashwood Street just after midnight July 19, 2008, when someone drove up next to him, got out of his own vehicle and started shooting. Mejia was hit and later died.

Supervisor Don Knabe recommended the reward, saying investigators believe it may prompt reluctant witnesses to come forward. He emphasized that
witnesses can remain anonymous.
