Keller's car then traveled about 250 to 300 feet up an embankment on the right shoulder and slammed into a sound barrier wall, according to the CHP.

Paramedics declared the victim dead at the scene, CHP Officer Anthony Martin said. It is unclear why Keller, whom witnesses say had been traveling in the No. 1 eastbound lane, veered across the freeway just prior to the crash.
