Just a few hours after , a collision between an ambulance and a Toyota Camry occurred less than a half a mile away on the same road.
The accident occurred in the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Shoemaker Avenue about 12:35 p.m. Tuesday when an ambulance struck a white Toyota Camry, said Lt. George Berumen of the .
"The citizen actually had a green light and the ambulance was responding to a call when the two vehicles collided in the intersection," according to the lieutenant.
The driver of the Camry, an 18-year-old Cerritos resident, suffered minor injuries, Berumen said. No one in the CARE Ambulance truck was hurt, he added.
Prior to the ambulance crash, the intersection was already experiencing significant traffic as sheriff's deputies and volunteers shut down the east-and-westbound lanes along Artesia Boulevard between Bloomfield and Shoemaker avenues following a major collision along Artesia Boulevard that left a box car pierced by a huge tree in the center divider.
