BMW Catches on Fire in Target Greatland Parking Lot in Cerritos

An electrical issue caused the small car fire; no one was hurt.

A BMW caught on fire during a car club gathering in the parking lot of Target Greatland in Cerritos Thursday night.

The fire occurred in the lot on Gridley Road at South Street about 10:10 p.m. Jan. 5, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch supervisor. 

Arriving firefighters put out the flames consuming the BMW, and no one was hurt, the supervisor said.

The owner of the car was in the lot along with other car club members when an apparent electrical problem caused the BMW to catch on fire, Sgt. Joe Quire of the Cerritos Sheriff's Station said.
