UPDATED: Carjacking Suspect Arrested at Hawaiian Gardens Home

Sheriff's personnel have been summoned to the home on 224th Street where the suspect has barricaded himself.

A carjacking suspect who allegedly kept peace officers at bay during an hours-long standoff in the garage of his Hawaiian Gardens barricaded home was in custody Thursday night.

Jorge Delvillar was arrested at 2:50 p.m. following the long standoff in the 12200 block of 224th Street, according to sheriff's officials.

Delvillar was booked into the Los Angeles County sheriff's Lakewood Station on suspicion of carjacking; he was being held in lieu of $190,000 bail, pending arraignment Tuesday.

A carjacking suspect barricaded himself inside the garage of a Hawaiian Gardens home today. 

SWAT deputies and members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Crisis Negotiation team are en route to the 12200 block of 224th St., Hawaiian Gardens to assist deputies from the Lakewood Sheriff's Station. 

The incident began early Thursday when gang investigators with the sheriff's Operation Safe Street Bureau went to the location to serve a carjacking arrest warrant. 

"The suspect ran from the house to the back yard where he barricaded himself in the garage," according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies are attempting to convince the suspect to peacefully surrender. 

Hawaiian Gardens is policed by the Lakewood Sheriff's Station, which also serves the cities of Artesia, Lakewood, Paramount and Bellflower.
