Cerritos Man Killed While Changing Tire on I-105

The crash on the westbound side, west of Garfield Avenue, was reported about 4 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 54-year-old Cerritos man was struck and killed while changing a tire on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in Paramount Saturday and the driver was at large.

The crash on the wesbound side, west of Garfield Avenue, was reported about 4 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A SigAlert was issued for a three-hour closure at the 105 interchange with the I-710 in both directions.

CHP officials said the victim was stopped in a merge lane of the westbound freeway at its ramp to the Long Beach (70) Freeway, changing the left rear tire on a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta when the car and he were struck by a 2007 Toyota Tundra.

The victim went airborne and slammed into the asphalt, according to a CHP report.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the CHP, the Tundra driver stopped, got out and ran off.
