Authorities ID Woman Killed in Crosswalk on Cerritos-Lakewood Border
The 80-year-old from Long Beach was fatally struck by a car while crossing the street on Bloomfield Avenue at Del Amo Boulevard about 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23.
A Long Beach woman who was struck and killed in Lakewood when she tried to cross a busy street against a red light was identified Tuesday by the coroner's office.
Chong Hwa Lim, 80, died at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday on Bloomfield Avenue just south of Del Amo Boulevard, according to coroner's Lt. Joe Bale.
Witnesses believed Lim was afraid she'd miss a bus across the street, Bale said.

"It was just a complete accident," said Lt. Alicia Malone the Lakewood Sheriff's Station.
The woman walked in the crosswalk in front of a car that had the green light, whose driver did not see her. The woman was struck and died at the scene from her injuries, the lieutenant said.

The driver of the car stopped after the collision, Malone said. A witness at the scene described the car as a Ford Crown Victoria.
