VIDEO: Motorcyclist Arrested at Gunpoint Following High Speed Pursuit with CHP

The chase, which passed through the Cerritos and Artesia area, occurred just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A motorcyclist led authorities on a chase today from Orange County, passing through the Cerritos and Artesia region, en route to the East Los Angeles area, where he was arrested at gunpoint by a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer who intercepted his two-wheeler when it slowed for traffic on the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, authorities said.

The chase began about 8:35 a.m. in the Santa Ana area, where a CHP officer from the Westminster Area office tried to stop the motorcyclist for speeding, said CHP Officer Ed Jacobs.

The biker was later identified as Daniel Freed Mayorga, 23, of Corona.

Mayorga kept going, heading onto surface streets in the Cerritos, Artesia and Norwalk areas, and then onto the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. After he turned onto the northbound 5 Freeway, the CHP backed off of its active pursuit and followed his progress via helicopter.

About 9:10 a.m.. a CHP officer intercepted the motorcyclist when he slowed for traffic north of Indiana Street and arrested Mayorga at gunpoint, said CHP Officer Ed Jacobs.
