A Cerritos man struck and killed by a vehicle while changing a tire on the 105 Freeway in Paramount was identified Sunday.
Reuel De Villa was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 4:35 a.m., according to Los Angeles Coroner's Lt. Cheryl MacWillie.
The crash occurred Saturday on the westbound side of the freeway, west of Garfield Avenue, authorities said.
CHP officials said the victim was stopped in a merge lane of the westbound freeway at its ramp to the Long Beach (710) Freeway, changing the left rear tire on a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta when the car and he were struck by a 2007 Toyota Tundra.
The victim went airborne and slammed into the asphalt, according to a CHP report.
The Tundra driver stopped, got out and ran off; he was still at large Sunday.
