Editor's Note: A fundraiser to help the family of Gerardo Angel will be held at 11813 Carson St. in Hawaiian Gardens on Saturday, Oct. 27 starting at noon. Food and refreshments will be available for donation.
The coroner's office today identified the driver who was killed when he rear-ended a big rig on the on the Artesia (91) Freeway early Thursday.
Gerardo Angel, 35, of Norwalk died in the accident, which was reported at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 25 on the 91 Freeway at Norwalk Boulevard, according to a coroner's investigator.
A CHP sergeant said that the victim's compact car had slammed into the back end of a big rig that was re-entering traffic after pulling over so the driver could secure the load on his flatbed trailer. CHP immediately issued a SigAlert for the No. 2, 3, and 4 lanes to accomodate the accident investigation.
Angel was pronounced dead at the scene.
Some who knew the victim, expressed their thoughts on Patch about his untimely passing.
