UPDATED: Crash Injures Sheriff's Deputy

The deputy was headed to help another official with an arrest.

A deputy was injured today when the patrol car he was driving crashed in the Santa Fe Springs area, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at about 8:40 a.m. in the 13000 block of Meyer Road, according to Deputy Jeff Gordon of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The deputy was taken to a hospital for treatment, Gordon said. His condition was not immediately released.

According to the preliminary investigation, the deputy crashed while he was driving to a location to assist in the arrest of a suspect, who was taken into custody by other deputies, Gordon said.
