UPDATED: Woman Killed in Crash on Alondra Boulevard in Bellflower

The accident, which investigators say may have been the result of excessive speed, occurred about 7 p.m. Friday.

Editor's Note: to read the updated story, including the arrest of a suspected DUI driver who struck the deceased victim's vehicle.

A 49-year-old woman was killed in a collision in nearby Bellflower tonight.

The accident occurred about 7 p.m. on Alondra Boulevard, just east of Woodruff Avenue, said Sgt. Joe Reveles of the Lakewood Sheriff's Station.

The woman, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, may not have been wearing a seat belt. She was ejected from her sport utility vehicle in the crash and died at the scene, KCAL9 reported.

The woman's 20-year-old daughter was also injured and taken to a hospital, while her 18-month-old granddaughter escaped injury, but she too was taken to a hospital as a precaution, KCAL9 reported.

A man in his 40s who was driving a Corvette was also injured, according
to the station.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation, although excessive speed is a possible cause, according to investigators.
