Elderly Lakewood Woman Killed in Traffic Accident
Officials say the 87-year-old suffered fatal injuries in a Long Beach crash.
A senior citizen traveling in a car driven by a 90-year-old man died of injuries suffered in a crash with another car, authorities said Wednesday.
A patrol sergeant came upon the crash involving a 1995 Toyota Avalon and a 2002 Honda Civic about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday on 53rd Street, near Cherry Avenue in Long Beach.
The Avalon was being driven by a 19-year-old Long Beach woman, Long Beach police said.
The front passenger in the Honda Civic, an 87 year-old woman from Lakewood, was taken to a local hospital and later died, officials said.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's office could not provide identification for the victim.
