Firefighters Quickly Extinguish House Fire on Stowers Avenue in Cerritos

Firefighters extinguished the blaze 16 minutes after it was reported. No one was injured.

Los Angeles County firefighters put out a fully involved house fire 16 minutes after it was reported, a dispatch supervisor said Monday.

The fire started in the living room of the one-story, single family home in the 17000 block of Stowers Avenue and was reported at 10:59 p.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett.

Arriving units saw flames coming from the living room, Pickett said, and initially thought there was someone still inside the home.

But everyone had evacuated, no one was injured and the fire was out at 11:15 p.m., he said.

Firefighters still need to put out the remaining embers, deal with smoke and water remnants, determine the dollar loss and investigate the cause, Pickett said.
