Investigators Seek Witnesses to Fatal Accident on Cerritos-Lakewood Border

The accident that killed Lim Chong, 80, of Long Beach took place just two days before Christmas.

Traffic investigators are seeking additional witnesses to a Dec. 23 traffic accident that claimed the life of an 80-year-old Long Beach woman who was walking across the street on the Cerritos-Lakewood border.

The fatal collision took place at the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Bloomfield Avenue, near Target, at about 5:40 p.m. that Sunday.

The victim, Ms. Lim Chong, was struck by a car while crossing the street and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigators.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and was not impaired. No charges have been filed, investigators said.

According to reports from the scene, police were told that the victim walked in the crosswalk in front of a car that had the green light, but the driver did not see her. Some witnesses believed the victim was afraid she'd miss the bus across the street.
