Updated at 2:05 p.m.: SigAlert issued that will be in effect until at least 4 p.m.
Several lanes on the Artesia (91) Freeway in Cerritos were blocked early Thursday afternoon after a big-rig jackknifed on the roadway.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the No. 3, 4, and 5 westbound lanes at Artesia Boulevard just before 2 p.m. The closure will be enforced until at least 4 p.m.
The collision on the westbound 91 Freeway near Carmenita Boulevard was reported at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, according to CHP Officer Christian Cracraft.
At least one other vehicle was involved in the accident, which resulted in diesel fuel spilling on several lanes of the freeway, the CHP reported.
Los Angeles County firefighters were summoned to the scene of the crash, although it was unclear whether anyone was injured, Cracraft added.
Traffic was forced to a crawl as the westbound No. 3, 4, and 5 lanes remained shut down until the accident clears.
