La Palma Man Arrested for Uncle's Death

A 23-year-old La Palma resident has been arrested in connection with the death of his uncle -- a Buena Park resident -- whose charred body was found in Santa Barbara last weekend.

A 23-year-old man was behind bars in nearby La Palma today on suspicion of killing his uncle, whose charred body was found in Santa Barbara last Sunday.

Kirk Michael Galvin was taken into custody Thursday after detectives found evidence the crime started in his apartment in the 5000 block of Orangethorpe Avenue, La Palma police Sgt. Raul Morales told the Orange County Register.

Last Sunday, a relative reported Douglas Brian Galvin, 58, of Buena Park, missing and his body was found later the same day in Santa Barbara, according to police. The cause of his death has yet to be released.

Kirk Galvin was booked on suspicion of homcide and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

La Palma, a small city in Orange County, borders the city of Cerritos.
