In response to two recent unrelated discoveries of grenades in the Southland, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department issued a reminder today to be cautious when finding something that could possibly be an explosive.
If you see something, don't touch it, but instead call the bomb squad, which is good at dealing with the risk, said Capt. Mike Parker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
The sheriff's bomb squad removed a World War II grenade from a tool shed in Monrovia last Friday. One month earlier, grenades were found on a trail in a park in Palos Verdes Estates, but were inert.
Parker said people should call local law enforcement whenever they see suspicious devices.
