Man Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Rolex Christmas Day in Seal Beach

The victim met the suspect through a Craigslist ad.

A 26-year-old Long Beach man was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of stealing a gold watch in Seal Beach on Christmas Day from a victim he met through Craigslist.

Oscar Alexis Mejia, who was arrested Wednesday, was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to Orange County jail records.

The victim, who was selling a gold Rolex watch, met Mejia through a Craigslist ad, according to Seal Beach Sgt. Philip Gonshak. The victim was robbed just before 8:30 p.m. on Christmas Day in a parking lot of a CVS store at the Seal Beach Towne Center, 12490 Seal Beach Blvd., Gonshak said.

Mejia is suspected of three similar robberies in Los Angeles County, according to Gonshak.

Anyone with information relevant to the case was asked to call detectives at (562) 799-4100, ext. 1108.
