Man is Shot and Killed While Waiting for His Bus

A gunman approached the man and fired at the victim several times, authorities said.

A 41-year-old man fatally shot while waiting for a bus in Norwalk was identified today.

Edward Simental of Norwalk was shot about 6:20 p.m. Sunday in the 13200 block of Rosecrans Avenue, just west of Carmenita Road, and died at the scene, according to sheriff's deputies and a coroner's spokesman.

Sheriff's Lt. John Corina said a gunman got out of a white van, shot Simental several times, then got back in and fled south on Claressa Street.

A motive for the attack was not known.

Anyone with more information about the killing was asked to call sheriff's detectives at (323) 890-5500.
