The collision was reported on the eastbound 91 Freeway at Norwalk Boulevard at 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 25 , according to California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball. Initial reports indicated that multiple vehicles were involved, he added.

A CHP sergeant at the scene told a member of the media that the victim's compact car rear-ended a big rig that was re-entering traffic after pulling over so the driver could secure the load on his flatbed trailer.
